I've downgraded from Vista to XP > some problems

#1 Post by commander » Thu Oct 18, 2007 3:44 pm

Hello,
finally, I have downgraded from annoying vista to XP. The process have been done by official Lenovo service. I have T60 15" FlexView.

After the reinstall, I updated my system - I installed everything except some Lenovo help - it took 2.04 GB and about 6 hours (!). Upgrading was smooth except one issue which I solved (something about InstalShield). Now I have those problems:

1) When I press Fn+F3(power manager), it does not open PM but access connections (same as Fn+F5). Even if I starting PM manually (start>thinkvantage>powermanager) firstly the access connections appears, and then after a while appear PM too.

2) Client Security Solution - I have now CSS 6.01 (is it newest for XP?) and it looks different than the one which I have on vista before. Each time I started XP some annoying window appear, and it wanted to configure CSS. I tried both Auto and Advanced config, and every time it ends with some error about creating personal keys. Thirdly, on vista, when I entered any password in a browser, it save it as fingerprint. Now, this never appears, so I have to write my logins and passwords all the time.

3) when I wake up the computer from a sleep mode, I cannot turn it off. Start>turn off does nothing, same as ALT+F4. The only way is to push power button.

Thank you all IBM men for help.

Ahoj Commander!

dobre den! I also have a T60 with Vista and while it's nice and colorful, I just dont like it either so it'll be XP for it too...

My first questions.. Did you do a complete wipe and fresh install? Did you run the XP OS setup files from the Device Driver matrix? Did you run Thinkpad Software Installer? I hope those questions helped.

The reinstall is done by IBM service point. I think they have about 3-DVD image, and they only simply rewrite the HDD.

Any help from anyone?
