can not install

hi,

i try to install a clean xp sp2 on a x60s.
so i set sata-mode to compatibility and inserted the cd into my external usb dvd burner.
i start the laptop select to run from cd.
but when the type: "setup is checking your hardware" (or something like that)
appears the screen stays black after that.
the hd-led is glowing, but after a while the cd stops and nothing more happens.

what's wrong with it?

Sounds to me that it is something wrong with the cd..

yep thought the same, but another one is not working too
and i remember that i have used this many times before installing perfectly and once on the same x60s.
but it was a different ext. dvd...but of the same manufactor (LG)

could the ext DVD be defective?
its new but working well in windows.

ok i solved this.
i had 4 partitions:
- lenovo service
- windows xp
- ubuntu
- ubuntu swap

grub was used as bootmanager.

something of this killed the installation.
after i used lenovo service partition to reinstall the laptop as it came out of factory, and by that checked that the whole harddrive should be formatted, i could run the installation of xp with my usb-drive.
