Video chip in A31 series

#1 Post by fasterbybike » Sat Oct 20, 2007 2:25 pm

The tawbook shows the A31 fitted with the ATI® Mobility™ RADEON™ 7500 and the 7800 chip on the A31P models.

A seller on ebay is claiming his model is fitted with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700.

Were any models made with this chip, or is the seller confused / incorrect ?

The seller is WRONG...for whatever reason.

A31 XGA models had 16Mb video
A31 SXGA+ models had 32Mb video
A31p had 64Mb video

Thanks George, when I asked him for the model type he claimed he could not find it, even after me giving detailed instructions !. The rest of the listing looks as if he has lifted the copy directly from a T42 advert of another vendor and changed the heading and picture !!

Sounds like a scammer. Run, don't walk, away from that sale as fast as possible.

I would say 90% of A31's I've seen on eBay have 16MB video memory, 8% are A31p's, and 2% have the 32MB video memory.

The prices of "regular" (non-FlexView) A3 machines have gone down to a fairly ridiculous extent...I've offered an average A31 here a month ago for $250 and had absolutely zero interest...

If I were looking to buy one that would be "for keeps" I'd keep on posting here and bumping it until the combination of the right unit and price showed up...likely to be a few bucks more than eBay, but worth the peace of mind...

"The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing."
Either that or he realised he wasn't going to get away with the scam. From a quick look, I counted 5 inaccuracies/inconsistencies in the advert. I think he copy/pasted an advert from another seller and didn't know what to change LOL
