Can I downgrade BIOS version?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Can I downgrade BIOS version?

#1 Post by Kike G. » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:57 pm

Hi, everybody,

Does anybody know if it is possible to downgrade BIOS version in a ThinkPad 600E? Mine is a 2645-4AU. I upgraded BIOS to version INET36WW (date: 11/20/99), but I think that my Windows XP ran better with the INET30WW BIOS version (that's the one I think I updgraded from).

It is weird: In the IBM/Lenovo support site, they say that Windows XP wouldn't run in any BIOS version prior to INET36WW... but I'm pretty sure that I installed Windows XP for the first time in my 600E having only INET30WW version, and it ran ok.

Is it possible to downgrade? How can I do that?

Thanks a lot for any advice.
Enrique

That's the same version I have running on my 600E, and XP is fine.
