Atheros a/b/g
100gig 7200rpm
and i THINK its 4x of 8x dvd r/w.
my question is, is my dvd drive dual layer?
how do i check?
i bought this about 2 months ago, so its not that old yet.

My T60p has a 39T2679 DVD burner from June of 2006. The specs say for mine that it is dual layer.
Most likely yours also is dual layer. To be 100% sure take out the drive and post the part number here.

Plugging the FRU 39T2829 into the IBM Support site leads to this:
