R52, error when using DDR2 667 and 2010 error

#1 Post by Staind » Wed Oct 24, 2007 5:57 pm

Hi!
Many people told me that R52 can use DDR2-667 memory without a problem but after I plugged in the Kingston DDR2-667 1G memory into the spare slot, thinkpad won't start(it powered on but only gave me a dark screen, I guess it didn't even began the POST). When I put this memory in the slot inside the case, leaving the spare one empty, using this 1G only, it gave me four short beeps during POST and hanged there.
Also I tried to install a new harddrive(model no. HTS541616J9AT00 160GB), is there a way to fix the 2010 error during POST?
Thanks!
My model is 1860-I9V.

I had no problem with DDR2-667 in an R52, but I used Crucial RAM. See this thread for the 2010 error.

Note: What works for a T43 will work for an R52.

Kingston memory and thinkpads mostly do not go hand in hand.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
