X61s w-XP won't always standby

#1 Post by charlieo » Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:29 pm

I have the proper options set in the power control panel. About half the time, when I close the lid the machine goes to stand-by and desired. The other half of the time, it just keeps running. Then I have to open, log-on again and choose stand-by from the start menu which then usually works.

And on the subject, sometimes it goes into standby properly when I close the lid but then if I come back to the computer a while later (the lid is still closed), it's running again. This seems only to happen when I leave it connected to my LAN.

Any suggestions for either?

Thanks,
Charlie

Not sure will help or not.

Follow this:

Right click My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Network Adapter > Right Click on your Network card > Properties > Power Management > uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer".

I also assume you've most up-to-date drivers for power management.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
