Thinkpad T30 Start up PROBLEM

#1 Post by Simon966 » Thu Oct 25, 2007 5:13 am

Can anyone help me !!! I have a Thinkpad T30 that won't start up!!! I had no problems with it until a few days ago. I tried to start it up and got an error message that said "Error - check time and date settings" or something similar to that. I was told it could be the internal battery (small battery under the main battery) so I replaced it with a new one but...I still get the same message and then it goes to a black screen with a little pad lock on it. There has never been a password on it before, HELP!!!! How can I change the date and time if I can't get to the desktop? I've also tried to start it up from the Win XP disc but can't get pass this little lock thing. Some one PLEASE help me!!!

Thank you for any help.
Brian

There must have been a password before, only you haven't been aware of it. Once the CMOS battery was pulled out, the computer locked itself.

No easy way around this one, and we're really NOT supposed to be discussing removal of BIOS passwords on this forum...

Google is your weapon. And eBay may be as well.

The best of luck with resolving this.
