I have a "Highly Cosmetic" question...

#1 Post by none » Mon Nov 08, 2004 12:54 pm

Will the Pentium M and Windows XP stickers on my T41p rub off over time? They seem to be printed differently than my T30 stickers, which did rub off. I'm asking because if they WILL rub off, I'll just remove them and be done with it now :p

Just remove them now and don't think about it again.

The will probably fade over time from the sweat oils etc.. from your wrists.
But to me the most ugly part of them is in time they will disclolor the black plastic in the wrist rest. So I would remove them ASAP.

I took mine off. I used a butter knife. Then I got the rest of the glue off with the sticker.

Didn't leave a scratch at all.

i took mine off, and then decided i wanted to be a logo-whore. I jumped on ebay and found a guy who sold me a new P-M sticker (i've got IBM wireless) as well as a "laptop sized" XP sticker (actually slightly smaller than the P-M sticker, and much smaller than the one that comes by default on the palmrest). I took them both and stuck them in the upper right corner of the bezel, above pgup and by the hinge on the notebook. They look good there, they won't rub off, and they don't get in the way of anything.

I am a consumer whore! :D

I actually started to like how they looked for the couple weeks I had it on there.

After I took off though, I really like how it looks without now.

I don't think they'll rub off very easily, but they're chromed so the corners are prone to flaking.

Lift up the corner of the label with a razor blade and then peel it back SLOWLY. This will pull the adhesive off with the label. Rip it off quickly and the adhesive will remain on the palmrest. It'll come of with time but be patient now and you won't have to deal with it.

I've had my T40 for over a year, and the XP and Intel stickers (chrome) still look like brand new. Granted, my wrists don't go over the Centrino sticker when I'm typing, but the XP sticker has stood up well against rubbing.

just rip them off, and then use the sticker to "dab" the leftover sticky glue, and it will come off in a few seconds. There's no need to wait it out.

my guess is they will rub off, or at least change in appearance with wear. i didn't even think twice - i just peeled the stickers off for fun.

The WinXP sticker started flaking apart on its own so I took it off; the Centrino sticker shows no signs of wear whatsoever and is still in place.
