Deleting old Thinkvantage installers

#1 Post by Optigrab » Fri Oct 26, 2007 7:11 pm

Questions here, partially answered in an old thread:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=32386

May I safely delete every folder within
C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session
except the *.ser file and the *.xml file under the "Sessions" directory? (There are no other files in the "Sessions" directory.)

I wonder, what are the caveats (if any) of deleting these folders/files?

Why doesn't Software Update clean up these files itself, since they do take up quite a lot of space?

The whole folder (System Update) takes just over 300 MB on my machine. You can delete the files you listed and add "system" and "temps" folder to your "do not delete list" too.

Thanks. So everything can go except the System folder Temp Folder,
*.ser file and the *.xml file.

The session folder takes 2.3GB on my machine, so you can see why I'd like to shed some files.
