7500C

I have a complete 15" screen assembly from a T42 which works perfectly. I connected it to the motherboard from a T40 which had a bad screen, using all the correct cables for a 15" screen. I never took the screen apart, just swapped in the working motherboard. Now the display is all distorted (stretched out vertically and compressed horizontally).

The only difference I noticed, after a lot of looking, was the original T42 motherboard (bad) had an ATI Radeon Mobility 7500. The T40 (working) has an ATI Radeon Mobility 7500C. Is there some significant difference that would cause this not to work? I was under them impression all T4x motherboards were more or less interchangeable.
T40 - 1GB RAM, 1.5GHz PM, Atheros WiFi, 40GB HD
X30 - 728MB RAM, 1.2GHz PIII, 60GB 7200RPM HD, Cisco WiFi
X31 - 1.5GBB RAM, 1.6GHz PM, 60GB 7200RPM HD, Atheros WiFi
