X61s - good deal?

#1 Post by ex0dus » Fri Oct 26, 2007 11:25 pm

I just recently sold my X60 (which I loved, apart from the heat and faulty & failing security chip issues). So I just had to buy a X61s to replace it. I'm just not sure if I got a good deal or not since it's a little more than I paid for my X60. Also, is the 4 cell slim line battery really as dismal as I've heard with regards to running time? Anyways, what do you all think?

I'd have been happy with that deal, I think it's a very good price - even if you end up opting to go with the 8 cell battery after the fact. Good luck with your new Thinkpad!

Yes, I agree. The only way to do better probably would've been to dig through the Lenovo outlet and call about 15-20 models before you *maybe* get lucky and actually get one. Barring that, I'd definately be pleased with that unit for that price. $1080 off is nothing to sneeze at!!

Thanks for all the replies! I feel a little better about the purchase now. I just have to wait is all. Expected ship date is 11/14, hopefully that sticks.

I did use an AMEX (the Hilton card) so hopefully that will extend my warranty by a year. I'll have to call AMEX and ask how that works.

Does anyone also have any input on the 4 cell slim battery life in the real world for them?

Thanks again!
