Xubuntu 7.10 on a T21

#1 Post by Harryc » Sat Oct 27, 2007 4:50 am

In case anyone wants to try running it, I have Xubuntu 7.10 running very well on a T21 with ACPI working. (512MB RAM, 1GHz CPU). The only workaround needed was to add;

Option "BusType" "PCI"

to the "Device" section in xorg.conf as described in this bug report. -

If you're going wireless, get an Atheros based PCMCIA card, as they generally work out of the box on Linux. I got an SMC SMCWCBT-G which works very well.

doog, the speed is good to excellent, much faster than XP on the same machine. Today I found a second bug, that is coming out of sleep, the SMC card does not negociate with the DHCP server (my router) by itself and obtain an IP address. I am looking into that problem, but hey ... it's always something with Linux :).
