T61 hibernation/wireless question

#1 Post by baehrlich » Sat Oct 27, 2007 9:50 am

When resuming out of hibernation (Windows XP), the wireless connection does not work quite often, sometimes saying "limited or no connectivity", and sometimes simply not connecting. This is seemingly random, and I cannot find any correlation to time or anything else. Right clicking on the wireless icon and selecting "repair" takes care of the problem, but I should not have to do this so often.

I am using Windows to contro; the wireless settings (uninstalled Access Connections), and have an Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN card.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Before Lenovo and Microsoft fix the bug, there is a simple solution using the hardware wireless switch.

Switch off the wireless device before turning into hibernation; and turn on the wireless device after resuming out of hibernation.

my wife had the exact same issue with her t60 and xp, and calling ibm tech support did not help (they sent us a new wireless card, but that didn't fix the issue).

however, this did: see the comments about "deep smart power down" on the gigabit ethernet device in this review: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3563

hope that helps..

for my wife's t60, we changed a parameter for the Intel gigabit device, not the wireless adapter. This blog post has a picture of the screen we used: http://blogs.lanlogic.net/blogs/tom/arc ... d-t60.aspx

good luck...

I have a different type of adapter, and that choice isn't there!
