Windows hangs (sort of) after logging in

#1 Post by wearetheborg » Sat Oct 27, 2007 7:02 pm

Recently after I log in, some startup services take 3 minutes to start.
I cannot opem "system" from the control panel for 3-4 minutes. After about 4 minutes, the rest of the services start, then everything is OK.

Some of the services affected are, NHC, windows update checker, wireless logo.

Winamp, power meter, eject hardware buttons all come up normally without any delay.

This is in Xp pro. Any solutions ?

RE:slow boot

Are you booting with any network drives installed? I've heard of them slowing down the booting in the same fashion. Also, if that doesn't help, download Spybot S+D and turn on the advanced components or Runalyzer from http://safer-networking.org/ to see if there isn't something bulky or malicious starting in the background.
