#1 Post by Msmax » Sun Oct 28, 2007 1:38 pm

Hi all,

I bought a T41 1.4Ghz for cheap and like to upgrade the micro.

Need tips on which is the fastest processor which will work in this machine.

ID. 2374-1FG

Thanks, Msmax

Your best bet is to upgrade the hard drive to a larger 7200rpm model. Then increase the memory to 1-2 Gb. Finally, you can upgrade the CPU to a 2.1GHz Pentium M (400MHz FSB only) but the more cost-effective CPU upgrade is probably a 2.0GHz Pentium M (anything less and you probably won't notice a difference from your 1.4).

Thanks for your reply.

Do you know by any chance the S number for this processor?
SL6CL?
SL6DF?
SL6FK?

Or will any 478 socket Pentium 4-M with 400Mhz FSB fit?

Thanks, Msmax

EDIT:
Found a SL6FK for 15 euro's.
Hopefully this will do the trick.

The T41 takes a Pentium M, not a Pentium 4-M. Look for SL7EM

There are (already!) quite a few threads in this forum on CPU upgrades in T4x's, e.g. see: New T40 owner, new upgrade race!! while other upgrades are discussed in the thread T42 Upgrade Possibilities - most of which also apply to T41's. Also, see the thread: T40 quick question (the post of Thu Sep 27, 2007 8:01 pm) which will point you to T40 CPU upgrades.

To find a faster CPU, have a look in the Marketplace - quite a few CPU's have been offered for sale, there, recently. You may of course put out a "WTB" or "LF" (want to buy/looking for) advertisement there - it's entirely for free! :-)

Best regards,

Johan

If your 1.4 ghz cpu is banias, consider upgrading to dothan 1.8~2.0ghz, its a noticeable upgrade
