IBM rapid restore ultra problem in restoring an archive

#1 Post by chessplanet7 » Sun Oct 28, 2007 4:47 pm

When I press IBM Access and then back-up now,
there's an option View All Backups
when I go there I see

saved to USB : 10/28/2007 , name : backup9

When I try to restore, the archive backup9 doesn't show up as a
choice. so this back-up is not valid.

The problem may lie in the fact that the USB drive is an IOMEGA drive but shows up as E:/Local Drive.

If I try to backup on local drive, it goes to my C:/ Drive, so I do my backups using the USB option.
But when I try to restore the E:/Local drive doesn't qualify as
a USB.

I looked at IOMEGA support pages but it doesn't seem possible to change from local to USB.
and the IBM pages do not mention that problem either.

Does someone have an idea how to solve this issue ?

I just looked at the following page and saw the following. Maybe this will work for you.
Lenovo wrote:Symptom

Microsoft Windows 2000 systems might not be able to restore from USB backups because the operating system changes the assigned USB drive letter. Consequently, Windows 2000 computers cannot find backups on multi-partitioned USB drives.

A Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer might incorrectly assign multiple drive letters to a universal serial bus (USB) device when it is attached to the computer. This prevents users from restoring from backups on the USB drive.

Solution

Boot the computer to the Rescue and Recovery workspace and then restore from a backup on your USB drive.
