giving a T22 internal wireless (56k warning LARGE PICS)

#1 Post by bonestonne » Sun Oct 28, 2007 8:36 pm

Ok, so its been on my to-do list to take my T22 and give it internal wireless, but i want to know if it would be possible to add an antenna to my USB adapter before sticking it in.

^that is my chosen resting spot for the adapter. its take out of the plastic shell obviously for size , and i'll put labelling stickers around it in order to keep it from shorting out

^thats the closest i can get, there's that contact at the edge of the card....i'm not looking to add the plug for an antenna, but i want to run wires around the LCD to act as the antenna, like normal laptops with internal wireless have. any tips on running that cable would be great, such as what to do with the end of the wire.

help and suggestions towards this project are greatly appreciated. i wont be doing the actual surgery to it until i get a USB 2.0 card, however having an understanding on what i'm doing would be great. i plan to do this because i'm finally getting a "new" battery for my thinkpad, and would like to truly be portable. the adapter will be wired to the inside of the USB port, and i'll cover up the one on the back, and have the USB 2 card for all USB actions.

the idea behind this was spawned a while ago, however yesterday night i was at work in a cafe [sound tech] and i was less than 20 feet from the router and it refused to connect, thats what i want the added antenna for.

if anyone can help me out with this, that would be great, i'm looking for more help on running an external antenna from the chip rather than the one it has for better strength.
