Adaptive CPU or Maximum power??

when i am running my t42 from the mains, for a quieter run, is it best to change the setting to adaptive?? If so how does this affect speed, will it run at max when it feels it needs to (hence the 'adaptive' title) or does it generally run slower??

Try it out and see how you like it. For me, I use the adaptive because in Max Performance the laptop tends to get a little too warm for comfort on my lap. I rarely see a difference in performance in general usage.
