#1 Post by MJC » Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:08 pm

My T20 died and I want a smaller ligther TP. The X is the ticket. I checked with Bruce but he doesn't have any at the moment. IBM has the following offer for $1529:

ThinkPad X31 (XX1) w/ Media Slice
PM 1.6
256
40GB
CD-RW/DVD
1 year warranty.

What do you think?

hey MJC,

would you mind telling me the model or offer number on that bundle?

In regards to the choice between T40 and X31, I have seen both and I think the choice really comes down to. Did you like the size of T20, because the T40 is essentially the same size just thinner and slighty lighter. If you are getting a T40, is it the higher resolution 1400x or the lower 1024x... The screen on X31 is 1024, and if you are getting the lower 1024x then the screen estate is really the same.

What do you prefer, size or comfortability? Will you need a CD/DVD drive when on the move. Also another option is to take out the optical drive and fill it in with a dummy. That should save you about a 0.5 lb.

Hope that helps... but I think most people have your problem... choiches choiches..

You can now find this deal on IBMs certified used notebook. I am now considering the X40, for just about $1000.

I gather that for regular MS Office and Internet use a memory upgrade is sufficient.

What do guys think, is this a good deal?
