problems with Rapid Restore Ultra 4.0

#1 Post by p0ser » Tue Nov 09, 2004 3:20 pm

I'd love to be able to use Rapid Restore Ultra 4.0 as my primary backup application, but it just doesn't work properly on my machine. My t42 is new, so it arrived with the all the most recent versions of its preinstalled software. (I've checked) When i try to select files to exclude from backup, the program becomes non-response, but does not hang. I don't suspect that there is an obvious configuration issue that is causing this problem - just problematic software. I think I'd like to be able to count on the software when I am in a situtation where I need to do a restore ... i've definitely lost confidence in Rapid Restore, so I'll be searching for something else ...

I have a question regarding Rapid Restore - I'm trying to test out the restore process right now. At the start of the boot process, I press the blue Access IBM button and then it starts loading the Rapid Recovery software then it asks me for a password... I don't remember ever having to set a password in the first place, but I've already tried all the passwords I ever use and none of them work. After 5 or 6 password failiures, it just reboots the system. What password is this and is there anyway to wipe the harddrive if I can't figure out?
