IWS Upgrade

#1 Post by corsac » Wed Oct 31, 2007 8:58 am

Hi,

I finally purchased a T61 8897-CTO SXGA+ with integrated graphics, from Euclid Computers (they are really nice), it arrived last week at home, in France.

The problem is that when I had to chose the model I wanted to be sure to have a model with IWS, so I checked between 8895 and 8897. One has it while the other don't and, guess what, I order the bad one.

So I have a freshly arrived T61 8897 wich has no IWS and I wonder if there's a way to upgrade the warranty to have a French warranty for this beast.

Do you know something about this?

Regards,

Yves-Alexis

Unfortunately there is no way. The only solution lenovo suggests is:
lenovo wrote:In cases where the country may not have the ability to service a particular model, service may be provided on a "best effort" basis and some fees or restrictions may apply. An alternative would be to attempt to obtain service under IWS in a neighboring country listed for the machine in question.
Seems like 8897 is not eligible for IWS warranty at all.

Yeah, that's too bad (especially since it seems there's no hardware difference, it's only a matter of price...)
