Good day forumites...
I have a T60, about 10 months old... XP SP2, fingerprint reader... all pretty standard overall.
I started getting the very slow boot ups due to the "checking status of security chip" nonsense... so by reading these forums I was able to bypass and disable all of that, or so I think.
Now it boots quickly, I still use the fingerprint ID software to login and that works great.
The only thing lingering is that although I've uninstalled CSS via "add/remove programs", I still get the following message once I'm at my desktop from a boot:
"Client Security Solution
There was a problem connecting to a critical service..."
I've seen this error message talked about in these forums... but I don't know how to remove it because as I said, I've already un-installed CSS.
I assume it is something I can disable via msconfig, is that correct? If so, which item(s) should be disabled through msconfig?
Thanks in advance!

Fully bypassing CSS w/fingerprint reader on a T60
UPDATE:
Well, I found a workaround...
In the BIOS, if you select "inactive" as opposed to "disabled" for the security chip, it seems to be fine.
What that tells me is, even though CSS says it's been un-installed, there is some sort of handshaking going on anyway. As if there is some service starting up that needs to verify that the chip exists.
I suppose I can deal with this, it's really not hurting anything, but if CSS says it's un-installed, I would hope it truly was.
