Urgently Wanted: Restore CDs for X31 (now available on FTP)

#1 Post by Jason404 » Wed Oct 31, 2007 12:25 pm

I urgently need the Restore CDs, or an OEM XP SP2 CD that will accept the serial number I have on the COA. It is not being accepted by the generic OEM XP SP2 CD that I have.

I have an FTP server where the .iso images can be uploaded.

I will be extremely grateful for this, and can make a small PayPal donation to anybody that is willing to help me out.

Thanks!

????? Any OEM Windows XP CD should work with your COA on the bottom of your computer. Sometimes these are scratched or difficult to see so make sure you're not entering a "8" instead of a "B" for example.

I double checked and I did not make any mistakes when entering the key. If you search Google, or this forum, you will find some people saying the contrary.

I am currently getting the recovery CDs uploaded to my FTP server anyway, so it's okay.

Are you sure that you were using an OEM disk, and not a Retail Disk?

This got me thinking....Will the recovery CDs with the Windows XP on it for a X31 work on a X30?

Can you get recovery CDs for an X30 with Windows XP?
I must serch around and see if i can find a set.

The X31 is image compatible with the T40 (and presumably T41 and T41). So recovery disks from these computers should work also.

I have used X31 disks on an X30 successfully (XP). Once everything was up and running, I downloaded Software Installer and updated drivers from Lenovo.

Yes, I am sure.

I have the X31 Recovery CDs on my FTP server, which Gator kindly uploaded. I'll keep them there permanently. If anybody wants to download them, or upload any ThinkPad files for other users, PM me for account details. I cannot publicly publish the details for security reasons.
