Sleep,Hibernate issues

Sleep seems to not always wake, hibernate Fn F12 doesn't show a screen just goes black and the sleep symbol flashes for a while then it goes off. then when it resumes with power button it says resuming hibernation...

anyone know how to get a screen to show for progress when hibernating?

also whats hybrid sleep and how to tell which sleep is being entered.

There is no progress bar in Vista when it goes into Hibernate. Dumb idea, really, because we really need to know when hibernate is done so we can pack up the computer. I guess this is Microsoft's idea of an "improvement".

Also, it takes longer for Vista to complete the Hibernate action, than in XP. That's normal.

On your other question:

Of course with a laptop, there is no worry about power loss, because the battery acts as a buffer against loss of power.
