Delivery to the EU: Import Duty/TAX

#1 Post by Botak » Tue Nov 09, 2004 5:31 pm

Firstly, a big thank you to everyone for their input to the forum - reading it has informed me on many things and helped me decide on a 2373-M3U!
My question is regarding shipping to Belgium or the UK. I can save a significant amount of money by importing (ie. from Bill), but I think this would only remain true if import duty and VAT don't mess things up.
I know that it is possible to declare a parcel as a 'gift, no commercial value' but would they believe that? If anyone has any experience and would like to share I would appreciate it very much, and perhaps it could be helpful to other guys in Europe who also worry about this issue.

I would think our earlier discussion about Canada and "gifts" would seem applicable here. I would read up on that.

Hi, thanks very much! The topic explains it well, although duty can be avoided, it seems VAT cannot :/
