Changing XP language

#1 Post by SetTainte » Tue Nov 06, 2007 11:42 am

I have Finnish XP Pro on my T43 and I'd like to change it to English version.
How ever IBM only offers the Windows license on one language only.

What happens if I just install some normal english XP there? Am I able to get all other original software there? How should I do that?

If you have Multilingual User Interface (MUI) version of Windows XP then you can do that otherwise unlikely unless you buy a new version of retail Windows.

Except the hidden partition you can get all applications and drivers:

ThinkVantage Downloads

Drivers and software - ThinkPad T43, T43p

Where can I find out which version of XP do I have?

edit: oh crap, at least http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/embedded/aa731280.aspx says that MUI is only for english versions =(

What would happen if I would get Vista for the laptop?

Would all the original software work on that as well?

Yes, they will.
