X61Tablet XP Downgrade - Stylus Issues - No eraser/click

#1 Post by sophist » Tue Nov 06, 2007 5:10 pm

Hi all,

First post to the forum. Seems like a helpful environment...

I have recently assumed the duties of imaging the laptops in our fleet. As we have not migrated to Vista in our fleet yet (and have no plans to do so in the near future), I am stuck reimaging the new shipment of X61 Tablets with XP tablet Edition. This has been a successful experiment so far with one exception. The stylus seems to function different in XP than it does in Vista. The eraser and the click button on the stylus do not work despite the fact the check boxes are enabled in the pen and table options control pannel. Since this is a custom image that I have constructed on my own, I was wondering if anyone has purchased and installed the XP downgrade from Lenovo. Do these features work in Lenovo's factory XP image? I know there are workarounds and that this is not critical functionality, but these books are headed for an executive division and I really want to ship them out right so that I don't ahve to go back to support them later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK so after delving into this issue farther, it appears that the eraser and the click are not functional in the text input panel in XP tablet edition like they are in Vista. In Windows journal and sticky notes all is normal.
