T61 w/ Logitech VX Revolution mouse - Help!

#1 Post by rxblitzrx » Tue Nov 06, 2007 9:32 pm

ey Everyone,

I just started using a VX Revolution with my Thinkpad and I hate it!
I dont' know how to accurately describe my issues with this mouse but I'll try:

With my old mouse, I could get the cursor to hover a button I wanted to click with no problems. Now, with this new VX revolution, I keep missing my target. The cursor always comes up short of where I expect it to be. It also feels like there's some lag time in the movement. EX: I move the mouse but the cursor doesn't look like it moves right away.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've tried:
1. Removing mouse pointer acceleration
2. Adjusting pointer speed

no mouse pad. I used a better surface though and I think it helped. Anyhow, I really can't stand the way it feels, but that one's on me. Gives my index finger inflammation.

I use the same mouse and I think it's the best mouse out there. Both the MX and VX models, that is.

Have you tried adjusting the pointer speed and acceleration in the Logitech SetPoint software?
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

I use both the VX and the MX with my T60p and every now and then I get a little lag with my MX; however I've never had a problem with the VX. The lag in the MX seems to be from the surface of my desk....more specifically the lighting. I noticed that the lag happens when I just have my desk lamp on and angled in a certain way so that the mouse is moving over a lit portion of the desk and a portion in shadow.

I'm not sure where I read it (maybe somewhere on Logitech's site) but I think that VX and MX (really, any laser mouse) needs a surface with some randomness in it. Glass supposedly doesn't work (haven't tested it) and other smooth, even surfaces (pattern-wise, not texture). You may want to try some different surfaces or mousepads. If that doesn't work maybe reinstall the driver.

Also, you mentioned you adjusted the pointer speed and acceleration...did you do this with the SetPoint software? I ask because I don't know if it would make a difference if you did it with SetPoint or with Windows.

I use the MX with my T61p and VX with my X61 and have not had any problems (but haven't tried either on a glass surface).

I'll keep trying it out. I've only had it for a few days but I might get used to it. Honestly, I'm eyeballing that new bluetooth mouse from Logitech. I think the model number is 450. That will free up a USB port and it might be lighter than this VX Revolution. I know the VX gets really good reviews, but I just can't agree on this one.
