How does a white spot look like?

After teaching today, I went back to my office and then turn on the my T60p (with lovely Boe-Hydis UXGA LCD), I suddenly found that there is an area (about 1mm x 1mm) with different colors. It's not actually with different colors: it's just the color is not the same as the surrounding color (or I should say the color is not uniform: if you put a single color desktop, you will notice the slight difference between the color at that spot and the surrounding color). The spot behaves well when the color is darker (for example, for a black desktop, you won't see anything different), but worse if the color is lighter. The appearance of this spot certainly really drives me crazy because the screen itself is the only reason I bought this (a bit heavy) machine.

I don't have a camera right now, so I can't take a picture of that spot. I heard of some cases that a white spot occurs on someone's LCD, so I would like to know how does a white spot really look like. If it's also the case on my LCD, what is the criteria of asking for replace the LCD (since it's not dead pixels, I am not sure about the policy)?

It can be a stuck pixel (just my assumption), try scrolling the middle button of UltraNav on it.

Stuck pixels usually consists of a combination of colors and responds well to different backgrounds.

According to the definite of a stuck pixel, I don't think that spot in my LCD is a stuck pixel since it still can represent different colors. The problem is that the color is not the same as the surrounding color if the colors are supposed to be the same. It's not a hot or dead pixel either.

I will try to take a picture of it someday this weekend so that everybody can judge what situation of my screen is.

sounds to me like you have a damaged spot, did something strike your screen?

I had a spot exactly as you describe but it was caused when a cord struck my screen.

I am not sure if what I have is the same as what the original questioner asked about.

The spots I have (there are two) are definitely not stuck pixels, nor are they gunk on my screen. I have thoroughly wiped my screen clean, and I have reflected a bright light to look for scratches or dent on the surface. It's OK externally.

These look like pressure spots to me. They seem to be caused by physical trauma to the screen. I have one.

The picture Bagels4All posted is exactly what's on my LCD now, except that in Bagels4All's picture, the spots are darker than the surrounding color, while mine is lighter.

I can't think of anything stroke my screen, since I baby it so much. If it's due to some unusual pressure, then I would try to remove the LCD bezel later to "release" the pressure and see if the situation gets better. However, it means I need to disassemble the LCd again That's kind of pain in the [censored]...

By the way, does the warranty cover this because usually one spot will cover several pixels. Bagels4All has at least two spots, so he definitely can check with lenovo to see if he can have his LCD replaced. I only have one spot, and sometimes it disappears (but it appears more and more often now), so I might need to wait some time till there is really something I can't bear happening on the LCD.
