ThinkPad R61i (8932BXU) vs. Thinkpad R61 (8934A7U)

#1 Post by BobSmith103 » Wed Nov 07, 2007 1:53 pm

Hello

Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on either of these laptops. The R61i has the 5250 Core 2 duo and the R61 has the 7100. The R61i has Bluetooth and a webcam and the R61 doesn't. I'm leaning toward the R61 because of the higher processor but it may not make much difference as both will be running WinXP Pro. Any thoughts one vs the other appreciated.

Product: ThinkPad R61i 8932-BXU [change]
Operating system: All [change]
Original description: T5250(1.5GHz), 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x768, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

You will see some differences above, e.g. camera/ express card/ bluetooth.

I couldn't find the TPs you're looking at, but, all R61 have modular optical drive bays - only some R61i have this. All R61 have docking ports - only some R61i have them.

Thanks again Andy. You wouldn't happen to know offhand if the same headphone jack setup is extant with the ThinkPad R61 8934-A7U, i.e., the 15.4 screen would also have the headphone jack on the left side too?

Pericles, do you have the model letters after the 8932 part? How is the fan noise?

Found an interesting tidbit ref a difference btw these two machines... the 8932BXU has a standard 1 yr warranty and the 8934A7U has a 3 yr warranty.
