Diagonal lines on x61s ultralight lcd

#1 Post by supahdren » Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:00 pm

I got my new x61s in a few days ago, and so far it's been great. The lcd, however, concerns me. After reading about this laptop in great depth, I expected a sort of sub-par lcd, and I don't mean in terms of physical size or resolution, both of which I am absolutely fine with. Rather, I'm referring to the viewing angle limitations and the not-great colors, all of which was accurate.

However, what I didn't expect was that there are sometimes faint diagonal lines on various parts of the lcd, such as on the green xp start button, which sort of give the button a textured appearance. These lines are most visible when either my eye or the laptop is in motion, and they're really distracting. Is this normal for all of these screens, or is mine just messed up? Could it be related to refresh rate, or is it something else? I have the latest graphics card drivers. On a side note, what is the quality of the vga out on this laptop? I'm really counting on it being good. Thanks!

A loose cable perhaps. See how the OP got it fixed in the following thread:

Vertical Lines on the LCD.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
