X61 Palmrest Questions
Hi All,
I have a few questions about the X61 palmrest assembly:
1. - If possible, where can one go about getting a new X61 pamrest assembly?
2. - Are they easy to replace?
The reason why I ask is because I have a friend who may have a defective one (the fingerprint reader is spotty most times).
Which also asks this question:
3. - Would IBM/Lenovo ship him a new one via his warranty for replacement?
Thank you all!

1. Yes, one can from IBM parts.
2. Watch the video and follow the instructions:
ThinkPad X60, X60s, X61, X61s
3. Yes, I don't see why not. Please tell your friend to call IBM Support Center at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7!) and request for a replacement of that faulty CRU.

With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."

Thank you ryengineer! I appreciate the detailed response!
Also, I must mention, he has the IBM logo palmrest, not the "ThinkPad" newer one - so I assume he would have to mention that so they can send him the correct part, right?
Thanks again

Unfortunately that's not possible, the replacement is provided on best possible basis depending on the part availability so it's just a matter of luck of getting "IBM" or "Thinkpad" base for a replacement.Kamika007z wrote:snip....Also, I must mention, he has the IBM logo palmrest, not the "ThinkPad" newer one - so I assume he would have to mention that so they can send him the correct part, right?.......snip
