AHCI option in bios produces blue screen sptd.sys

#1 Post by gemal » Thu Nov 08, 2007 2:20 am

Using a X60 with latest bios

If I go into the BIOS and change the AHCI option to anything other than "combatibility" Windows produces blue screen within screens saying a error with sptd.sys.

Anyone have a solution for this?

You probably need to install this driver. Don't forget to read the installation instructions for your OS

To install the drivers you would need to follow the instructions I mentioned in the following thread:

AHCI mode.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

FYI, in Vista 64 and XP 64, I found it necessary to install the drivers manually (initial system install was in compatibility mode) by forcing it to upgrade the drivers on the 1st IDE channel to the Intel Matrix Storage ones.
