System Update 3 doesnÄt install hotfix and so it is dead

#1 Post by StarSheep » Sat Nov 10, 2007 8:50 am

Hi guys

my System Update is trying to install some kind of hotfix but with no luck. As a consequence I cannot install anything else cause the hotfix seems to be having installed first.

I also tried the new installation file from the net but the same error.

Any ideas

Thanks

SU won't install the 'hotfix' for me either, but it does install other stuff . . . I just updated from 3.0 to 3.1 two days ago on my -3uu, and the hotfix still doesn't install. I just tried updating my -4tu and it informed me that it needed an update, did I want to do it now? I clicked OK and was informed that SU was already running and I could only have one version running at a time . . . I clicked OK and it shut itself down :x Time for a reboot and try again

Edit: When I rebooted the first thing I did was start SU. The splash screen came up and poking out from behind it was a small window with a progress bar that said, "SU is updating, please wait . . . " About three minutes later (!) SU started as version 3.10, and the 'hotfix' update was gone. Then I checked for updates and there were 7 recommended (video, LAN, WLAN, power management, BIOS, active protection, and easy eject) and two optional (ultranav and keyboard customiser). I didn't try to install any of them because none of them fix problems I'm having--and if it aint' broke, I don't (usually) try to fix it. All of that to say, SU seems to be working.

Just to add to this, I installed System Update 3.1 on my R51 last night, and it seems to be working fine.

Hi guys,

I just tried something here and it seems to have fixed it.

Check your services under COntrol Panel --> Administrative Tools.

Look for System Update Service and look if the service runs. Mine was deactivated and after activating it the installation ran perfectly fine, even the hotfix was gone and installed.

So guys try checking that and let me knwo if that works for you too.

Thanks

Wow, thanks!

That fixed it for me.

I've had this annoying problem for some while, reinstalled and everything but nothing helped.

Hi All,

Hotfix for system update wouldn't install, neither any other updates.

I'd disabled the "System Update" service, re-enabling it sorted out the update issue.

Thanks for the post!
