New Thinkpad with Samsung screen = bad?
New Thinkpad with Samsung screen = bad?
Hello,
I've got a Thinkpad r61i with a Samsung LCD screen but I still can return it to the store for a small fee. I can't unpack the computer and start it, I can only return it in the unopen/sealed package it came in. If I unpack it I must keep it.
Are the newer Samsung LCD screens worse than the LG screens? Do you think I should return it to the store and try to get another? After reading a lot of posts here and on other forums it seams like some people actually prefers Samsung...
Best Regards
Oskar R

Umm... Are you serious?
Samsung makes better LCDs than LG & everyone else combined. They dominate the LCD market worldwide.
Samsung LCD screens are more expensive than LG, definitely
They're both from South Korea...
Oh, also Samsung builds the world's largest LCD screens...

Well, I know any loser can build a big screen but like if you walk down in walmart or sams club or any other superstores
& you compare Samsung screens to some other new players like VEO (or something like that)
Samsung screens are definitely better...
Maybe the brightness of the screen might get you headache...
Well, in Korea, Samsung is better recognized than LG, so I'm not sure why you're so prejudiced..

Yes I actually found it too bright, and if you move your head a few inches away from the center, the brightness will drop dramatically, which is probably the reason it kept giving me headaches.Maybe the brightness of the screen might get you headache...
I've never used a LG screen so no comments here. But among the three 14" SXGA+ LCD suppliers (Samsung, BOE-Hydis and TMD), I would say I prefer BOE-Hydis. My TMD screen is very bright and comfortable to look at, but it has a fair amount of light leakage.
