I have run into a perplexing issue with a secondary hard drive in the Ultrabay of a T61p.
Symptom: writes to the drive fail, either immediately, or within a few seconds of the first write. Afterwards the drive is no longer readable or writeable. (Note: prior to the first write, any number of reads from the drive are successful!)
Environment: occurs in Windows XP, Linux and Windows PE.
The following has been tried without impact to the result:
1. The system board has been changed
2. I've tried three drives from two manufacturers with the same results
3. The firmware is up to date on everything
4. I've run the system in both legacy and AHCI SATA controller mode
5. It's not OS specific, as the issue is duplicated in XP and Linux.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on what might be taking place here?
Anyone else seen the same thing?
MOD EDIT: Moved from X6x forum to T6x.
