Kindly asking advice about a Payment
Kindly asking advice about a Payment
Hi All,
I've just won this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0190498027
Seller accepts to ship it to my address, but one thing bothering me is ways of Payment. Seller only accepts Checks or Money Order. I have dealt with many US sellers but payments always are through PayPal so if things may go wrong, I can ask the money back. This seller Feedback is not too many even it's 100% positive, and it is a quite new seller.
Seller also gave me actual pictures of the item, so I know he has a laptop. I would like to know what you think about this deal, and what else I should do in order to make it safer.
Thanks

Your only real option is to work out some sort of escrow deal. See... http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/payment-escrow.htmlDiehard wrote:what else I should do in order to make it safer.
IMO, in general it's not a good idea to deal with newish sellers who will not take electronic payment. You may get an item at a lower than expected price, as the more experienced buyers usually won't bid, but then you have the stress of worrying whether it will arrive!
Cheers,

Sir! Your words are valuable! Many thanks. I'm asking the seller to use escrow service. Otherwise, I won't go with the deal.Your only real option is to work out some sort of escrow deal. See... http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/payment-escrow.html

In the intent of full disclosure, I do not know the seller in question, nor am I in any which way affiliated with him/her/it/whatever, but:
a) You are trying to change the terms and conditions of the sale AFTER you've won the auction, which is simply wrong. Period. Seller doesn't have to accept the escrow, and if you end up getting a negative feedback from this sale, it's not going to be anyone's fault but your own.
b) No seller in their right mind accepts PayPal from Europe, apart from UK. Period.
You wanted to get a great deal and stay on the safe side. This auction lacked the "safe side" part.
See if the seller will accept a check drawn on your credit card. That's probably your best bet, and might be your only one.
BTW, what makes you think that they'll ship to Germany? The auction states US and Canada only...
Good luck.

I would try to go with a Credit Card funded paypal payment or a check drawn on your Credit Card. That way you have some recourse with your CC company.
I didn't mean to sound harsh in my earlier post but doing international transactions on ebay is a harsh reality and requires paying strict attention to the details.
