R60 - Memory upgrade

#1 Post by StefanAO » Mon Nov 12, 2007 12:19 am

Hi there,

I am looking into upgrading my system memory on my R60. Currently I have one Dimm of DDR2 Ram installed. My question would be, what will give me greater performace: another identical 1GB module, creating an actual DDR System, or a 2GB module, giving me 50% more memory on a single data rate system?

Thanks folks!
S

Welcome to our forums. Stick around and you will learn (and hopefully contribute) a lot!

Your R60 does not support Dual Channel memory.
It can take a maximum of 4GB (2x2GB) but only if you have 64-bit XP or Vista will it recognize 4GB.
32-bit XP will only recognize 3 or 3.5GB.

So your best bet would be to buy an extra 2GB stick and put that in the first slot, and put the 'old' 1GB in the second slot.
