Use of Advanced Mini Dock cause Shutdown.

#1 Post by specularius » Mon Nov 12, 2007 3:13 pm

I received my new T61P 6459CTO today. When I have it docked in the mini dock, after a couple of minutes, it will shutdown. This is an instant shutdown. When rebooted, there is no warning about being shutdown improperly. What could be causing this? Where should I look?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds familiar:
Docking to a ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, ThinkPad Advanced Dock, or Essential Port Replicator, causes the system to power off - ThinkPad R60, T60, T60p, T61, Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

Symptom
The ThinkPad system powers off immediately when docked to a ThinkPad Advanced Dock, ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, or Essential Port Replicator. This could occur if the ThinkPad system is warm-docked (ThinkPad system is in a suspended state) or hot-docked (ThinkPad system is in a powered-on state).
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

nice.. I have two Advanced Mini-Docks and one has those caps, while the other doesn't. Always was wondering why those caps are there. Now I know =)

I think my problem is more related to the conflict between the Nvidia FX570M and having 2 Ram chips in at the same time. My T61P will still shut down randomly so I have removed one ram chip and am testing it out now.
