WTB: T4x with 14" SXGA+

#1 Post by whizkid » Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:26 pm

My wife wants more pixels and the same size screen. Since I have to maintain it, I want a ThinkPad. Our budget dictates a T4x series.

SXGA+ and 14.1" screen are MANDATORY, as is 802.11g. (Backups at B speeds are intolerable.)

This should be a complete unit: optical drive of some sort, XP Pro COA intact, in at least very good physical condition.

"Nice to have": disk over 40GB, 1GB RAM, fingerprint reader, useful 6-cell battery, working AC adapter.

PM with offers, and please include shipping to 55106.

Feel free to entertain me with other creative alternatives, too.

Thanks for the offers, folks. I went with a factory sealed T42 from eBay store IBMFactoryOutlet. FYI, 2373-B09 for $499 (NOT $399) plus $40 S/H/I.

I wanted to stay with at least a T41 for the faster memory speed. I also wanted a systemboard with a 64MB video chip. The only offers I got with that combination were already close in price to the one I went with or didn't have as favorable a combination of options, and as nice as I'm sure they are, there's still less wear and tear on a machine that's never been used.

BTW, anyone looking for a ThinkPad of any kind should look here first. There are a lot of nice offers here.

A sealed 2373-B09 for $439 delivered? That's unbelievable. Congrats!

Can you post the auction link or number? Others may be interested...

Woops! That's $539 delivered. Editing....

And here's a link to their store. They have a lot of factory sealed ThinkPads, including a nice 2373-M1U for $579. I debated a long time over that. $70 (net, with shipping) for faster CPU, bigger disk, Bluetooth and fingerprint reader. Tough choice.

Now that makes sense. Still a very nice price for a super machine!

Enjoy it.

"sealed" is not the same as "new". You are getting a refurbished laptop. Hopefully it will look new, but I'm pretty sure it's not unused.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Good point, and one I had not considered, but is confirmed in the fine print. Still, factory refurbished by IBM has been excellent in my experience, and the auction states "IBM/Lenovo factory grade A refurbished".

I'll post my experience if there's any interest.
