Clone sucessfull, now back up ?'s with True Image

#1 Post by petemosss » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:05 pm

Have new rip roaring 7200 rpm Travelstar in the device just freshly cloned with no trouble whatsoever with Acronis True Image. I now Have old 4200 in Ultrabay in dock II and have it recognized by system.

What do I need to do to old HD to prepare for True Image backup plan? Old data still there.

I also have Disc Director as well. Partioned how?

Thanks! Pete

Can you be a bit more explicit about what do you want to do with the old HD?
Use it as backup-medium for Acronis images of the 7200rpm disk?
If so, just format the old HD in NTFS (or FAT32 if this HD is to go into a USB-enclosure later).

Hey RBS, thanks for the reply.

I have it in dock II ultrabay for strictly back up purposes for acronis images.

format under administrative\computer mgmt.\ "R" click disk mgmt. or is this something that should be done with True Image or Disk Director?

Is there some plan of partioning preferable for back ups?

You can just format it and use it. Disk management will do fine. Any partitioning is up to you. It will work fine with 1 partition or many partitions. Your choice. You can setup an Acronis secure zone that will keep the partition with the backups hidden from normal view if you want.
