Post-warranty service no longer offered (Central Europe) ?

I was going to buy a post warranty service pack for my ThinkPad R51 (mainly because of the IPS panel and motherboard). It tooks a long time to deliver it. I was told that is because "Lenovo is no longer offering post warranty service packs".

Sounds a bit scarry.

I believe you are looking for 10N3143 (courier collect) or 10N3144 (on-site).see pdf
These are not available for all countries, but certainly parts of "central europe"

Expand on Central Europe: what country specifically?
Central Europe geographically would mean Switzerland / Austria / Hungary / Chech Republic or thereabouts.
Albania / Macedonia or any part of the former Yugoslavia in a wider sense...
Questions like these require a bit more info!

ServicePacs are still being offered by IBM in North America and so in Europe. SP depends merely on 2 thing i.e. 4 letter machine type and geography, if you've been told IBM no longer offers them then it's just limited to your machine type.

I'm stuck here too now. I was going to get this a bit more than a month ago via supportwarehouse.com (IIRC), but they don't have any ServicePacs for non-server hardware anymore.

Later I managed to find the 10N3143 article number on the IBM site, which seems to be alive there, but any company that's supposed to sell it says they don't have it in stock.

Indeed a bit scary, knowing how Thinkpads seem to be more fragile than I thought before...

I've just got the reply. I'm lucky, got my service pack 10N3156. But they also wrote (translated): "There will not be any post warranty service packs for any IBM/Lenovo notebooks in the future. The only option will be to extend the warranty up to 30 days from date of purchase a new machine".

Looks like I was still in time, they just shipped me one too. Apparently they don't just send the registration number by e-mail but really send it on a real piece of paper.

So if anyone here wants to get one, don't wait for too long anymore!

Puppy & wvdgaast, where exactly (actual URL if possible) did you order/buy your service pack?

Last two weeks I'm beeing told by dealers the same as Puppy in the the first post (no ServicePack upgrade anymore for last six weeks in Czech Republic, only 30 days after purchase). Few days remain till normal 3-year warranty period. My longed product number is 10N3152. Thanks.

I looked for 10N3143 on www.centralpoint.nl (I'm Dutch originally) and found it there. It says they don't have it in stock, but still it was shipped in two days. Probably because they don't keep it in stock at all.

But I don't think they'll have a ServicePac that will work in your part of Europe...

I just moved from Ireland to the USA.
If you want some good bargains in Ireland, sign on (free) with www.adverts.ie
You deal direct with the seller for cash transactions. There are no commissions or anything else to be paid.
Also, if you want to flog your 'junk', that's the place to go to, rather than eBay.
You probably won't realize the same profits as on eBay, but then you don't have the aches and pains of eBay/PayPal either.

@RBS: Saw that one once before yeah, it's pretty nice. It's a little bit more like what's very big in .nl (marktplaats.nl, bought by eBay last year). It's indeed nicer than eBay since systems like this usually also make it a bit easier to see the thing before you buy it.
