Intel 2915ABG in X30...problems...

#1 Post by SaberX » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:15 pm

I just got the wireless card from ED , the Intel 2915 ABG wireless card.
I put it into my X30 and get the "1802" error. No problem.I do the no-1802 trick and that worked. It boots up into Windows XP Pro fine.
Get the new hardware prompt and i close it out.
Now i get the driver and software from the Lenovo web site for this wireless card.
It gets about 75% installed and then gets a blue screen and reboot's.(tryed 3 times).
So i then go to intel.com web site and get there drivers and software. Everything install but at the end it comes up "no wireless device found".
I then go into device manger and it's shows the intel 2915ABG device BUT it's saying "this device cannot start(code 10)".
I look up that code and it says to install the newest drivers.
I dont that and still get the same thing.

Anyone use the intel 2915 ABG in the X30??
I know the card works,It's brand new from ED here in the forum.
I think i'm out of luck and may have to trade it for a wireless card that works in the X30.

Load the newest driver from Intel.com. You don't need the IBM drivers for an intel product (in fact, I don't even recommend, since these drivers are usually older)
Lenovo ThinkPad X220
i5-2410M | 8GB RAM | 240GB Crucial M500 | IPS 720P | BT 3.0 | Intel 1000 | Windows 8.1
yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

Past ThinkPads: X300, T400, X61s, T41, X31, A21m, T23 (x2)

Could be a broken card then. It's rare, but...

Have you tried manually locating the driver for the hardware from "Device Manager"?

Weird suggestion but... what about trying a live linux cd ? (like ubuntu)
That card "should" be supported , thus you can see if it's working or not

Thanks for all the replys.
But a buddy of mine down the road had 3 minipci B/G cards he said he would trade .

I have the 3 others here now trying to find what one is the better one.

First one i'm trying to find out what it is and the driver for it is...
Atheros AR58m85 ---cant find any drivers.
Intel Pro2200 B/G---- i think this will work.
Intel -PA3375u ---- looking this one up now..

The Intel Pro2200 B/G should work fine, just be aware that if you use Intel drivers you will lose the wifi indicator light.

Just using the no-1802 will disable the light, so no worries there

I just want to update this...
The Atheros B/G card gave me an error befor the windows XP screen on startup."More than one network cards is installed".
Look here....http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... et_devices

Than i tryed the Intel -PA3375u ....
Turns out this Intel card is a Toshiba intel 2915 A/B/G card.
Same chipset as the one i bought from Underclocker. But it's from a Toshiba.
Instaled the Intel drivers and it's working great.
So go in the IBM Thinkpad X30 a IBM wireless ABG 2915 card dont work.
But a Toshiba wireless 2915 card works great.I'm useing it now.

So much for IBM putting a bios lock in there systems so you only have to buy a IBM wireless card.
In thise case i had to use a Toshiba wireless card with the same chipset to work in my Thinkpad.

I'm just happy it's working.

Hi,

same setup here with a X30 and the 2915abg using Lenovo intel driver as follow:

Driver Date: 4/4/2007
Driver Version: 9.0.4.36

Works like charme!

Regards, Torsten.
