Best wireless card for T43p?

#1 Post by jarkko » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:22 pm

I got fed up with problems with the Intel 2915ABG-card on my T43p (2668-F8G), so what's the best card to look for?

Naturally I'm looking for a IBM branded card so fn+f5 and the wireless led still work as they should.

What about the FRU 39T0357, any good? Isn't it the Atheros based card?

Tell Gena Harryc sent you ...
I just bought that card off eBay from that seller as well. Worked as advertised.

I found it odd that the card has no IBM markings at all though. It mentions some Chinese company out of Shanghai. I'm beginning to think it's a generic Atheros card w/ a hacked firmware. But for $50, I'm not complaining.

Be aware that the no-1802 patch does NOT work on T43 machines.

The Atheros card (39T0355) I ordered directly from IBM has no IBM markings either. It says Ambit Microsystems (Shanghai) Ltd.

That is true. The seller I linked to is selling the genuine IBM/Lenovo part. No need for hacks in any compatible machine.
