speaker / contact issue with X31

#1 Post by gujjuman » Sat Nov 17, 2007 12:16 pm

Hi everyone. I have a very weird problem with my x31. The speakers just stopped working. I have looked into the sound card / driver issues and all appears to be working well.
=================================
When the computer is off of the mediaslice --NO SOUND

When the computer is locked into the mediaslice -- NO SOUND

When the computer is just sitting on top of the media slice but not locked in -- SOUND from Media slice speakers.

Headphones in computer alone -- NO SOUND
================================
It seems that there may be some faulty contacts or something on the anterior portion of the laptop...????

Has anyone had such a problem or solution? Thanks in advance...

BuMP...

Hmm...does anyone think that replacing the speaker in the laptop itself (not the media slice) would help?

It doesn't explain why the headphone jack does not work. I've tested them on an independent CD player too.

It also doesn't seem to be the sound card as the sound is working when the computer is sitting just on the media slice without locking in.

Does anyone know any details about the 2 metal contacts / locks between the computer/media slice on either side of the absolute front of the machine???

Thanks

Maybe a driver or irq issue or a short circuit in the docking port? Just throwing out ideas.
