Dial-up Internet/Caller-ID screening???

#1 Post by robert213 » Sat Nov 17, 2007 2:02 pm

I am in the process of purchasing another T30 with port replicator for a friend who lives in a rural part of Indiana. She will be using T30's built-in modem for checking e-mail at home. DSL is not offered on the road where she lives. She will be using Linksys .11-G NIC at local sandwich shop and library for browsing websites.

I am aware that 3COM/US Robotics offers software to screen in-coming phone calls using Caller-ID included in the box with all of their modems.

I am aware that V.92 protocol is needed to suspend ISP connection , accept phone call, and unsuspend ISP connection.

I read this on T30's detailed specs...
Modem - K56Flex v.92
For those of you Dial-up ISP folks out there...

1) Could I simply use the phone screening software that is included with 3COM/US Robotics modems?

2) Could anyone recommend any phone screening software (freeware, shareware, or purchase) that works well with Thinkpads?
