Upgrading X41 tablets penabled pen???

Has anyone switched up x41's pen for something better - maybe a cross, or even the x61's??? I am wondernig about grabbing the extra functionallity of the eraser...

Any thoughts?

Eraser is completely useless. Never use it in mine (x61t). Scratch out gestures are much more convenient. But maybe this is a Vista feature (?)
Have you considered changing the nibs for felt ones?

Thanks for the link, quite interesting comparison.
But what is surprising me is that they recommend the Motion pen which essentially is the same as the one I got with my TC1100. And there is really no comparison, as the Lenovo pen is way better in use. The other is too thick, the button is useless and the writing feel is also less comfortable. So this left me a bit confused...

Thanks for the link... It was an interesting comparison (if a bit on the boring side) - the flick motion seems interesting - but I think I still like the eraser that can be found the on the x61... It seems that all of the new tablets have the push eraser builit in - this includes the new asus, fujitsu and lenovo...

So as long as the pen is "penabled" - it should work fine?

I guess my question is whether or not the x41 will recognize the eraser, seeing as it is not OEM for the x41.

Yes, I believe you are correct. As long as you use a Wacom penabled pen it should work with the X41T. It probably won't fit in the pen dock but it should work.

Personally I don't have an X61 pen but I've heard people say that you really have to exert a lot of force on the eraser button to make it register. I originally thought that having the eraser button on the top of the pen was a good idea, but I would not like having to press really hard to get the eraser to work. YMMV...

hmm... As with all wacom pens of this type - you should be able to adjust the sensitivity - both for the tip and the eraser - I think I may borrow a pay from a friend in class (a good bit of us pharm students have tablets)

As I have the x61t I can tell you that this does not work. You can set sensitivity in the driver, but all you get is wider ink at the same sensitivity ;-(

I think it is some mechanical reason behind that, sensitivity is just not that accurate.

The eraser is like a cap with a spring that you have to press. You can see it pretty good in the GBM video. So no matter what you define in the Wacom driver you have to put this spring pressure to activate it. And it is way to much to be actually usable. Also flipping the pen back and forth to use the eraser is in fact not as convenient as just doing the wipe out gesture.

Can you elaborate on the wiping out gesture??? I am sorry to hear that the eraser is not that convienient - I was looking forward to gaining some functionality that I do not have - but I guess I can simply click on the eraser button...
