XP 64-bit - IBM Access Connections

#1 Post by STRYPER » Sun Nov 18, 2007 12:36 pm

Does anyone know if the IBM Access Connections will work on the XP 64-bit platform? And for that matter, will any of the IBM preloaded software work on with XP 64-bit?

I was hoping i could just use the system updater and get everything i need.

It will work, all ThinkVantage tools do. Run ThinkVantage System Update, it will try to gather the tools for you but if it fails try the following link:

ThinkVantage Downloads.

I have a 64-bit Windows Vista Product Recovery disk and it came preloaded with all of them.

No, it will NOT work. XP64 is not supported by lenovo :( and most part of drivers does not work.

The previous poster seems to be correct, I cannot confirm whether ThinkVantage tools work under 64-bit version of Windows XP or not, my comments are for Windows Vista which is what I mistakenly thought you were asking about.

Vista is OK. I use vista 64 and since i installed system update every thinkvantage software and driver was installed from it well. But then i tried to do the same under xp64 system update installed well but on first run sad "unknown operation system" (or smth like it) and didnt copy any software/driver from internet.
I downloaded drivers and soft from lenovo website manually but no one thinkvantage program worked ok and only half of drivers were successed. After i tried almost all drivers from lenovo site i had 5-6 "?"-symbols in device manager sheet and many of hardware became absolutely unusable. That was really BAD cause some of my software in XP worked much much much faster then vista does...

This is bad news for me. I was planing on installing XP 64-bit to gain better stability and take advantage of 4GB of memory.

Is there anyone else here who is running XP 64-bit? If so what are your opinions?

STRYPER, I hope it's not too late, but go with Server 2003. I have it on my T61 w/4GB. Shows all memory, super stable, and very very fast. All XP drivers work great on it. After install of RC2, it only consumes 81MB of memory.

Go with 2003.
