Is it a good deal or should I get T61p instead?

#1 Post by ludu35 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 3:10 pm

Hello all,
I have a chance to get a rarely used T60P for $900.00. Spec:

- T7600 2.33 Core 2 Dual
- 1GB ram (4GB upgradeable)
- ATI FireGL V5250 256MB dedicate
- 100GB SATA-150 7200rpm drive
- DVD Writer
- 14.1" 1400x1050
- 9 cell battery
- Finger Security

I know this is old laptop, compare to T61P model with Intel Turbo 1GB, Santa Rosa chipset ... and nicer graphic card.
I am using T42P right now, and wonder should I get this T60P or better off wait for a better system. Please advice, thanks

I would grab it. Sounds like a fantastic deal to me.

I have a T60 and it is just really super. Another gig of ram would help if you plan on installing Vista, perhaps on another drive. I paid $400.00 more and still think it was a bargain.

Great deal.

That is the fastest processor for the T60 so it is worth more than your T61 unless you maxxed out the processor. In that case you could be spending twice as much.

If you don't want it I will take it.

How much warranty remains?

These are excellent specs and $900 is already a good deal, but if it still has warranty, then it's an even better deal! Don't worry about the relatively small RAM. It won't cost you much to upgrade to 2GB or more.

A high end almost maxed out "p" machine for only $900, seems too good to be true.

I bought an almost identical notebook (see sig) for 1400$ a week ago, go for it! I think it's a great price. Mine came with 160GB 5400rpm and a 6 cell battery and still I'm happy with the purchase.

Thanks guys for all inputs, I decided to get that laptop, and additional 4GB from newegg.
BTW, What so good about Intel Turbo 1GB memory cache?

With the Lenovo drivers, its buggy.
With the new Intel drivers, and Vista SP1, it makes a very noticeable performance difference. I can load PDF docs in under 1 second, Word and Excel just "snap" open....almost feels like a Mac!

Intel's Turbo memory does not support T60p, ReadyBoost under Windows Vista does.

Intel Turbo memory requires 965 chipset and Windows Vista.
